Tributes were held on "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard in memory of the 4 victims of the January 21 protest.

Important figures of the Socialist Party such as Ogerta Manastirliu, Belinda Balluku, Elisa Spiropali, Taulant Balla, Ulsi Manja, Rakip Suli, etc. participated in the protest.

They laid a flower for each of the victims. The victims' families, together with the SP ministers, went to the prime minister's office.

January 21st protest

On January 21, 2011, the socialist opposition called for citizens to protest, following the Meta-Prifti video scandal, which spoke of a corruption affair. Protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office, calling for the then Prime Minister Sali Berisha to be removed.

But when the crowd attempted to enter the courtyard of the Prime Minister's Office, the situation became tense and gunfire soon broke out from inside. The bullets left behind four victims: Hekuran Deda, Ziver Veiz, Faik Myrtaj, and Aleks Nikaj.

Sali Berisha accused the Socialist Party of wanting to stage a coup against him, while the opposition accused the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior of ordering the murders.

The first investigation brought Ndrea Prendi and Agim Llupo as defendants in the incident. The court assessed that the murders of Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj and Hekuran Dedaj occurred due to negligence and sentenced the former commander of the Guard, Ndrea Prendi, to one year in prison, and the guard, Agim Llupo, to 3 years.
