
After completing the assessment of the damage caused by the devastating fire of August 11, 2025, which included the Skënderbegës administrative unit in Gramsh, complete data showing the extent of this disaster has been published.
According to the official report, 68 homes were damaged by the fire. Of these, 10 were completely destroyed and require reconstruction from the ground up, while 16 others need partial reconstruction.
Additionally, 42 damaged homes were found to be seasonal or uninhabitable at the time of the incident. In addition to structural damage, numerous electrical appliances and furniture were also destroyed.
The damage is not limited to real estate. Agriculture and livestock have also been severely affected by the fire. In total, 215 small livestock, 9 cattle and 7 equines have died as a result of the flames.
Meanwhile, they have been completely burned:
• 44,045 hectares of olive trees,
• 11,028 hectares of vineyards,
• 1,451 hectares of medicinal plants,
• 9.5 hectares of fruit and nut trees.
Regarding the damage to the forest fund, there is still no exact assessment. The affected forest areas, mainly pine trees, will be verified through satellite images, to determine the exact extent of the destruction. Currently, the process has entered the second phase, that of calculating the financial costs of the damage.
The municipalities of the region have begun approving funds to assist the affected area, while the Albanian government has announced its support for the residents of Skënderbeg.
Meanwhile, solidarity has not been lacking. Numerous donors, both local and foreign, have expressed their willingness to contribute to coping with the consequences of this natural tragedy, offering material and financial assistance to the affected families.
This fire remains one of the largest natural disasters in recent years in this area, with serious consequences both for the lives of residents, as well as for the environment and economy.
