According to a previous report by Reuters, flights for 1,660 Afghans to be resettled in the United States, which had been previously confirmed by the US government, have been canceled.
It was predicted long ago by writer Ben Blushi in his novel "The Conspiracy", but it was made a fact by the 47th president of the United States of America, Donald Trump. A special decree, by the new president, on his third day in office, decided to leave 700 Afghan refugees in Albania, canceling their travel plans to the USA.
In the novel by journalist, publicist and writer Ben Blushi, one can no longer speak of a literary fantasy, nor even of a literary whim, and being such, it may be more than that, it may be reality itself, which surpasses, in most cases, even human fantasy, making it much inferior to what happens.
The rule wants, in short, that the language of the novel overcomes the dividing limitations of the language of the city, of reality, it goes beyond gods and men, beyond the present and the past and the future, beyond the separation of the self from the other, of the child from the mother, of the husband from the wife, of the friend from the enemy. It is a burning desire to escape individual isolation based on legal and moral taboos, and sometimes even scientific ones. Only artistic language can realize this function of escape. But it can also turn back, as happened in the novel "The Plot", by the author Ben Blushi.
There, what we consider art begins to become an inverted analogical sign of real life. It becomes a space of freedom and it is precisely freedom that is at the center of that hearth called the artistic creation of the world. Art, on the one hand, escapes the real world and builds a second virtual world. It builds a reality that functions differently. But, on the other hand, it rediscovers itself on earth, because it is forced to speak a language that people understand. All the more so since it was born as a need of the real world, of real people to say those things that cannot be said otherwise.
The events of the novel take place in the fall of 2043 and the spring of 2044, 20 years later, when due to demographic changes, the population of Albania has decreased, while many refugees have come to live there. They are mainly Afghans, but also Syrians and Iranians, all settled in the city of Shëngjin.
In fact, if you refer to a logical projection, to what really happened in reality, that is, beyond the writer's fantasy, just by referring to official data, it results that during 2023, 881 babies were born in the Lezha region. Specialists are of the opinion that this number would be much smaller, if it were not for the Afghan women who have been living in Shëngjin since 2021. Several dozen babies have been born from this community, which has increased the number of births in the Lezha area.
Beyond the novel, the Afghans will continue to stay in Albania. The chances are that they will continue to stay for a long, very long time, they will naturalize as Albanians both because of the circumstances and because of the few opportunities they will be given as Afghans. In order to survive, they will become Albanian, although they will always remain Afghans.
In the pages of the novel, the fable shows that since their population will increase at high rates, on the other hand, the Albanian population will continue to shrink, both from emigration and from low birth rates. And, in the 2040s, foreigners will become the majority and, being such, a majority in numbers, they will also win the municipality of Shëngjin, electing an Afghan as mayor.
The fable does not end here, it goes much further, due to circumstances and the frequent change of governments, this Afghan who marries an Albanian, is elected Minister of Defense of Albania. This is where the Conspiracy begins.
Afgani, the Albanian Minister of Defense, decides to liberate Kosovo, which, due to changing circumstances, is partially occupied by Serbs who have been encouraged by Russia's advance in Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia.
To prevent the liberation of Kosovo from the Afghans, three Jews who come together for different reasons, hatch a conspiracy. The three of them have their own views regarding America, Russia, Albania and especially Israel and its conflict with Palestine. One of the three Jews is a Zionist, the other is a communist and the third is an adventurer who often creates chaos without cause.
The plot ends with an Afghan coup attempt, an attempt to take over the Albanian government and turn it into a small Afghanistan in the middle of Europe.
Here ends the fable of the novel and this is the last part that belongs to the author's artistic whim, what was previously thought of as the author's imagination, today can no longer be considered such. Afghans will live a very long time in Shëngjin, they will certainly continue to be born and multiply, staying for a long time, and will even marry Albanian girls and vice versa. In this real journey of life, they may have, quite naturally, a mayor, a minister... nothing can be a surprise. Anything can happen.
The news chronicle revealed today that for those thousands of Afghan refugees who had fled for fear of punishment from the Taliban and who were waiting for a long four-year process to start a new life in the promised land, Trump's coming to power seems to have extinguished their dreams.
Afghan citizens who have taken refuge in Albania at the request of the former Biden administration and the decision of the Albanian government, after the departure of the Americans from Afghanistan and the takeover of power by the Taliban, have taken refuge in residential areas in Durrës and Shëngjin.
