Former General Artur Meçollari has spoken about the role of nuclear weapons in global security and the danger of their use in international conflicts.
He emphasized in "Top Story" that these weapons were not designed to be used in wars, but as means of deterrence and strategic pressure between great powers.
Meçollari also analyzed the states that possess nuclear arsenals and mentioned the countries that, according to him, pose the greatest risk of their use in a conflict.
" When we talk about nuclear weapons, we have to separate their use in an armed conflict. It's not like any other weapon. It's a weapon of deterrence, not a weapon of use. Just for that purpose. The whole objective of the great powers, those who have them... If you look at the US, it tries to prevent other countries from having them, but also those who have them, to have responsible governments and not use them. Here we come to the possible countries that could use nuclear weapons in an international conflict.
In my judgment, the first is North Korea. The use of nuclear weapons depends on the government's accountability.
"The first country with the largest nuclear capacity is Russia. The second is the US, then China, India, Britain, France, which are all at the same level ," said the former general.
