Lecturer Lush Susaj has commented on the recent scandal at the Agricultural University of Tirana (UBT), where the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) issued 24 security measures for university officials for tender abuse.
Invited to the studio of News24, Susaj said that the tenders were given with orders from above and that those responsible must come to light. " The tenders were taken by phone from above, give it to so-and-so, etc. We need to get to the root. Those who were detained must speak out ," he said, while expressing concern that the people detained by SPAK may have been used to sign.
Susaj stressed that the problem does not lie only with UBT and that the situation has come about as a result of a distorted system. He also criticized the rector's decision to speak before the SP parliamentary group after the incident. " It was not appropriate in any way for him to go and speak there ," Susaj concluded.
" UBT is neither the blackest nor the black sheep. It is better than the others, but this bubble will burst somewhere. It is not those 24 colleagues who planted this. The tenders were taken by phone from above. Give it to so-and-so, etc. We need to get to the root. They need to speak up too."
I am afraid that these people have been taken advantage of. I do not know them as thieves. I have been at the university for decades. Among the universities in Albania, UBT is the most accredited.
"I have known the rector for 15 years. If he had told me yesterday that he was going to speak before the SP parliamentary group, I would have told him not to go. I didn't like it, I felt bad. It was not appropriate in any way for him to go and speak there ," he said.
