"Brussels sent strong information to Albania", the arrest of
Edi Rama and the government's strategic businessman, Pëllumb Gjoka

The Belgian media have echoed the operation 'Metamorfoza', where the businessman Pëllumb Gjoka, the senior police official, Oltion Bistri and the prosecutor Xhevahir Lita were handcuffed.

Belgian public television,  VRT , writes that this operation came after the decryption of SKY ECC phones.

"For days there has been a big news in the Albanian media: several leaders of the police and justice have been arrested as part of a major investigation for murder, corruption and drug trafficking. And, the research also has a Belgian connection, because the information came - among other things - from the SKY ECC phones that our country could crack two years ago." Belgian television points out.

“The news hit like a bombshell two years ago: our country had managed to crack SKY ECC's encrypted phones and had been able to read the plans of a whole bunch of criminals for months. In our country, this resulted in abundant information - read: hundreds of sentences have already been handed down.

But the results do not stop at national borders. After all, the information was also shared with several other countries. with suskes. For example, a large drug cartel was busted in Serbia a few months ago, Europol called them 'the biggest drug lords in the Balkans'. And in Colombia, one of the most wanted drug criminals, Dairo Antonio Usaga- the so-called Otoniel- could be caught in 2021. Again based on information from SKY ECC.

And the Belgian court was able to transmit a lot of interesting information to Albania. Codenamed 'Metamorfoza', the Albanian special anti-corruption unit, SPAK, has carried out several raids over the past week.

Eight suspects have been arrested, nine others are still wanted. The news has caused a sensation in Albania for days, as the arrests do not only include names from the world of crime, but also some leaders of the police and justice appeared in the armpit of the investigators.

This research puts Albanian justice in a tight spot. "The crimes were committed by government officials, senior police officers and a prosecutor. This undermines the proper functioning of the rule of law".

So, the charges are no less than: murder, corruption, abuse of office, falsification of documents, drug trafficking, membership in a criminal organization, etc.

During the 26 checks, sums of money, various vehicles, firearms, phones were also seized. "Police are still looking for nine other suspects, including EM, a notorious figure in the Albanian underworld, who has disappeared," VRT television reports.
