Journalist Artan Hoxha has recounted what happened to journalist Elton Qyno, who was taken under investigation by SPAK, for leaking information from SPAK.
According to journalist Hoxha, after 16 months of investigations, SPAK has not produced any results for the investigation it has launched within the Special Prosecution Office, regarding the release of information. At the same time, he revealed to "Syri TV" that SPAK has used IMSI-Catcher eavesdropping devices.
Artan Hoxha: The investigation began on December 11, 2023, when Elton Qyno wrote an article that released encrypted messages from Sky networks, Encrochat.
On December 12, 2023, the referral of the information leak case was registered and on the 13th the next day, it immediately went to Elton Qyno, the journalist.
Who is the object of the investigation? There are 3 prosecutors, among them the head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, Doloreza Musabelliu and Behar Dibra, because they had this material in their file, and no one else.
As an investigation, it should have started from within, from where it came from, towards the OPGJs that those of the BKH have and until the 13th, the prosecutors have investigated themselves, have seized their phones, their tools, their computer, because that's what they say, but in fact they have done none of these things. They have gone straight to the journalist. They have called him to the SPAK offices and the journalist has been held for 6 hours.
That day, we communicated with colleagues, Qyno's family, because we had no contact. His phones were switched off.
I know what they said in the process, that the journalist wanted to stay inside himself, how will you prove it? You said, we held the journalist. During the time Qyno was held inside, a search was conducted in his vehicle, in the editorial office, an attempt was made to find his cell phones and, most interestingly, an IMSI-catcher was used, since it had not been used for a long time to find the journalist's phones, as they were unable to find them.
And they went to the bar and started pulling out the plates to see if they were hidden there, in fact the cell phones were on the bar's counter, where anyone could take them.
All these actions were justified by the fact that we are investigating the information leak and are trying to find out who the person inside SPAK is.
The journalist's apartment was raided and the children's phones and tablets were also seized and kept for 6 months. They themselves told us that the phone data was cloned, and the lawyers have requested that this data be destroyed.
The prosecutors investigated themselves for 8 months and after 8 months they resigned due to conflict of interest and there are two other prosecutors who are investigating, Ols Dado and Bledar Maksuti.
After 16 months, this investigation has yielded no results and it has not been revealed where the information came from.
