The former head of the State Police, Shemsi Prençi, commented on the moment of Ilir Meta's arrest. According to him, the method of arrest was outside of any principle.
Prençi said that there is no case of serial killers, leaders of structured groups that have been arrested in the same way as Meta. He added that SPAK was wrong in this way, as it could handcuff him in other premises.
"Albania at an important stage of EU integration. The first group chapter with human rights was opened. As a person interested in legality, I read the state police law. In Article 7, the police have selected democratic policing as a model based on 12 principles, proportionality, impartiality, etc. I invited all the experts only one principle that was respected in the arrest of the former president of Albania. There is no case of serial killers, leaders of structured groups that have been arrested in that form as a former president.
I wish the police did not have an order on themselves. If he acted to discredit the former president, he discredited himself. They were outside any democratic standards. First, SPAK made a mistake, he could call SPAK and communicate the defendant's receipt and put handcuffs on him. He could take the patrol to the office, home. Is there a policeman who gave him an arrest warrant? It was a terrorist act. Next month, SPAK will be included in the prime minister's office, which I will tell about later" , said Prençi for "Report TV".
