Files Authority declassifies documents: Anonymous letters led to firing of oil

The Files Authority has declassified for the public and researchers some other former State Insurance documents, which are related to the Oil Sector Insurance branch.

The documents provide details on the events immediately following the arrests, prison terms and shooting of some of the engineers by the communist government.

"The arrests of most of the oil engineers were carried out on March 25, 1975 and after a few months the investigator, amid pressure and torture, convicted in 1976 the engineers Filip Nashi, Beqir Alia, Koço Plaku, Protoko Murati, Milto Gjikopulli, Dhimitër Stefa, Jani Konomi and Nuredin Skrapari.

They were accused as saboteurs of the government, for agitation and propaganda and destruction of common public property. According to documents and testimonies of the survivors of the time, the process was prompted by several anonymous letters, followed by meetings of the Political Bureau and manipulative work by the State Security.

The engineers Koço Plaku and Milto Gjikopullin were sentenced to death and shot, while the body of Koço Plaku is still missing", the announcement of the Files Authority reads.

According to AIDSSH, the documents provide details on the annual analysis of the work in the oil insurance sector at that time, the plan of operational agency measures, information on the breakdowns that occurred in the oil search work, etc.
