Residents of Ura e Gjola in Fushë-Krujë have protested over the condition of the road that connects them to the Fushë Krujë-Vorë highway. They state that the reconstruction of this road has been promised for years, but has not been realized.
The road presents damages along its entire length, with potholes and water puddles. According to residents, local institutions have not intervened with sustainable investments and the only interventions have been partial.
"We mostly repaired it ourselves. We are lost in the municipality, betrayed because it hasn't thought about any of us," says one of the residents.
The road has never been paved, although about 100 families live along it. Residents find it difficult to cross, especially on rainy days.
"This situation has been going on for years. They come, give it a polish, and this is how the road has always been. We have complained to the municipality, but no one asks us if we are alive or dead," adds another resident.
According to them, emergency vehicles cannot circulate normally in this segment. They say that transporting a sick person to the hospital takes a long time due to the terrain.
"We demand that they fix the road, if you are sick it will take two hours to get to the Gjola Bridge. We have nowhere to go, there are potholes. They gave me 170 thousand lek for my land, old, with documents," says one of the residents.
Residents declare that if the Municipality of Kruja does not provide a concrete response for the construction of the road, they will block the Fushë Krujë-Vorë highway.
They remember that they were affected by the expropriations for the construction of the Thumanë-Kashar highway and that during that period they received a promise for the construction of the Gjola Bridge road, which was not fulfilled.
