For four days, the villages of Bashaj and Vermik have been isolated after a landslide on a part of the mountain slope destroyed the main connecting road.
Landslides and rockslides have made the road impassable, cutting off normal communication between these villages and the surrounding areas.
Residents, due to the lack of immediate intervention from the institutions, have started working on their own to open a temporary road. They are using shovels and simple tools to restore at least minimal traffic between the villages and surrounding areas. This effort reflects the great difficulties they are facing and the urgent need for structured intervention.
Yesterday brought the intervention of engineering forces, which opened an alternative route to ensure temporary communication between the villages.
However, the situation remains serious. The risk of further landslides continues due to unstable terrain and weather conditions. Residents are demanding urgent intervention from the Municipality of Selenica and the responsible institutions, not only for the opening of the road, but also for its construction and strengthening, so that the isolation does not repeat in the future.
