KAS rejects the opposition's request for the invalidity of the elections in Himara.

Sessions have started in the KAS regarding the partial elections for the Municipality of Himara held on August 4, from which it turned out that Vangjel Tavo of the SP won the post of Mayor with about 1,500 votes ahead of the opposition candidate, Petro Gjikuria.

KAS was acquainted with the report regarding the opening of the boxes of election materials. According to the presented report, after the opening of 36 boxes of election materials, which coincide with as many polling stations as the Municipality of Himara, no inconsistencies were identified.

Regarding the number of people who appeared at the polling stations and were not allowed to vote due to the expiration of their documents, it turned out that there are only 161 people.

The opposition representative said that there are about 26% of voters with expired documents who were not allowed to vote, thereby undoing the right to vote.

According to him, there are at least 256 cases where the identity card was renewed by the voter in record time, 1 or two days before the elections, so much so that these cards were not recognized by the PEI system.

"The production of documents depends on a state company, we stand by the indication that 311 citizens have been added to Himare, another 90 citizens have been added after the election date was decreed, over 560 citizens were denied the right to vote, we have had voters move from one center to another, we have 88 cases when voters were not identified through signs", said the representative of the opposition. According to him, all these violations constitute the reasons for the declaration of the invalidity of the elections in all the voting centers in Himar Municipality.

Meanwhile, the representative of the Socialist Party said that despite the fact that there was no legal basis, KAS approved the opening of the boxes.

"It's very good that the boxes were opened, at least this way the debate on Himara is closed once and for all. From the opening of the boxes, we have not found any violation, center by center", said the representative of the SP.

According to him, there are only 161 voters who did not vote because of the documents, while the figure of 6,000 that was stated at the beginning was dropped.
