Festive atmosphere, ancient traditions and traditional dishes, this is how the MP from Shkodra, Marjana Koçeku, describes Christmas, who was invited to the show Dita Jonë to share with the public how her family celebrates these significant days.
She indicated that, despite her political commitments and status as an MP, the holidays in her home remain simple and strongly linked to customs passed down from generation to generation.
The MP emphasized that Christmas, or “Kshnella” as it is called in the dialect of her area, is the most important holiday for the family, not only for the religious symbolism, but also for the traditional rituals that accompany it. She mentioned old rituals of the Highlands related to prosperity, abundance and respect for nature, customs that her family continues to preserve today.
"I make Laknori pancakes with my mother, just like every year. The MP comes after, I am first and foremost a mountaineer," she said, emphasizing that the position has not changed the way she experiences the holidays at all. According to her, Christmas is a moment of reflection, family reunion and gratitude for the values she grew up with.
The MP invited citizens to spend the festive days in Shkodra, describing it as a unique destination for the traditional food, festive atmosphere, and natural and cultural wealth it offers.
