Lawyer Romeo Kara has raised strong accusations against the way former KLA leaders are being treated by the Special Court in The Hague.
He described this process as a grave violation of justice, emphasizing that the KLA war was a last resort for survival, after a genuine genocide.
Lawyer Kara questioned the legitimacy of this court, emphasizing that it is attempting to equate the victim with the aggressor and that it is trampling on the values of the liberation war.
He added that even political figures like Sali Berisha must face justice for their statements and actions, while criticizing Prime Minister Kurti for his stance on Hashim Thaçi's situation.
"Those men fought for their right, for their war. It was the last resort for their survival, of that war that followed a real genocide. The way they are being treated at this moment has for us exceeded the sense of justice, it has been developed with a process that has violated legal laws that have not happened before. This is not a Kosovo court.
The establishment of this court leaves much to be doubted. They did not have it as a law to judge organizations, they intended to treat it as a war, throwing mud on history. The Hague is equating the aggressor with the victim. It is very hypocritical and unfair how the former leaders of the KLA are being held in prison. They are being held unjustly, moreover, the witnesses have also been questioned.
We do not prejudge, but we judge this court. The personality and the American Secretary of State were there at the right time and place. The Prime Minister of Kosovo does not have any great honor playing there with an empty field. Kurti is happy that Hashim Thaçi is being held in The Hague. Berisha has called the KLA a terrorist group. Saliu should be in The Hague for war crimes. No one can become a crutch for Berisha," said the lawyer.
