The situation in Delvina is apocalyptic, as flames have reached the town's Castle. The fire has surrounded the town, while residents appeal for quick intervention from the authorities, as everything is burning down within minutes.
The appeal is being made on social networks and in the media, while the flames are being fanned by strong winds.
Calling the residents
Delvina is burning! A massive fire, favored by strong winds, is destroying perennial pines and olive trees, spreading rapidly towards the city. Homes and the lives of residents are at risk.
Unfortunately, so far there has been no effective intervention to extinguish the fire, while its size makes it almost impossible to cope with. It is unacceptable that such catastrophic events are repeated every year, during this season.
This is not a natural accident – every indication points to human hand. It is unacceptable that such natural resources disappear in a matter of minutes. This is a crime being committed against nature and our wealth.
We demand immediate intervention from the government and local and national authorities:
• Dispatching firefighting forces and aerial vehicles without delay.
• Mobilization of civil emergencies.
• Support for the evacuation of residents at risk.
• Clear prevention plans for the summer season, so that the same tragic scenario is not repeated every year.
Every minute of delay costs lives, natural resources, and heritage for generations to come.
