Today marks the coldest day of January in Albania.
Meteorologist Tanja Porja announced on Dita Jonë that the weather will be mostly sunny, but with extremely low temperatures throughout the country. According to the meteorologist, today will be the coldest day of January and possibly of the entire winter of 2025–2026, if February does not bring colder air masses.
According to her, in mountainous areas, minimum temperatures have dropped to -12°C, while negative values have also been recorded in central areas and most of the coast.
"In the afternoon hours, temperatures will remain below zero in mountainous areas, from -4°C to -1°C, while in the western lowlands, maximums will range from 4 to 6°C, with the southwest reaching up to 8°C," Porja said.
According to the meteorologist, the wind will blow moderate to occasionally strong, from the north and northeast, making the feeling of cold even stronger.
Light and transient cloudiness will appear in the north and east, while the rest of the country will remain clear.
