A meeting of symbolic and spiritual importance took place today in the Vatican, where the bishop of the Diocese of Rrëshen, Archbishop Gjergj Meta, greeted the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.
The meeting took place within the framework of Wednesday's General Audience and was followed by a clear invitation from the Albanian bishop for a papal visit to Albania.
According to the official announcement distributed by the Diocese of Rrëshen, Archbishop Meta expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Pope on his election as the Successor of Saint Peter and informed him that just a few days ago, together with the community of Catholic Albanians in Italy, they prayed for him at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Genazzano.

Bishop Gjergji told him that last Sunday, together with the Catholic Albanians of Italy, they prayed for him at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Good Counsel, in Genazzano. Also, on behalf of the bishops and the Catholic Church in Albania, he congratulated the Holy Father on his election as the Successor of Peter and invited him to come to our country.
