The Special Court failed again this Monday to read the plea in the process against the three defendants in the "Meta-Kryemadhi" case, who are being tried in a shortened time.
The hearing against Fatime Kryemadhi, Ema Çoku and Pirro Xhixho was postponed due to the absence of defendant Xhixho's defense attorneys.
Upon leaving the courthouse, Monika Kryemadhi's mother spoke to reporters, claiming that no expert report had been made regarding her property.
"I wasn't asked about anything, because they postponed it. It wasn't about my absence, it wasn't about me. I wanted to hear the hearing, because they haven't done any expertise on my income. The hearing wasn't held, because that's what I was going to ask for," said Fatime Kryemadhi.
The next session was scheduled for June 15th.
The court has meanwhile accepted the request for a summary trial of the three defendants, Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi, who are being tried separately. Her mother, Fatime Kryemadhi, and Ema Çoku are accused of money laundering, while the former head of AKEP, Pirro Xhixho, is accused of corruption.
In the same case, former spouses Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi will face a regular trial. They are accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, charges they have repeatedly denied, describing them as politically motivated.
Ilir Meta has been in prison since October 21, 2024, while the investigation against him includes the CEZ-DIA case, LSI lobbying in the US and the property investigation. According to SPAK, Meta and Kryemadhi are suspected of having illegally obtained property and hiding their origin through family members and close people.
