The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, spoke after the SPAK investigation and arrests for the Tirana incinerator.
Asked if anyone tried to profit from this case, Veliaj admitted in a way that he is guilty saying that "there are people who have made a mistake". So he, like Rama, says that they may have eaten plums behind his back, but he is not to blame.
He also added that the Court decides whether the people involved in the incinerator affair attempted to steal or not. Veliaj admits that they must bear responsibility but denies the rumors that there will be no landfill.
"There are people who have made a mistake, I am not here, as mayor I do not have a plan B, let's say we have this landfill. Should they be held accountable? Yes. If you say we won't have a landfill, it's like saying we won't have a highway. This is no reason to say we will not have. We will continue the work, we only have state-to-state relations. Someone is jumping from the fray to include people who are transparent to clean up the city" said Veliaj to "Abc News".
GJKKO left the 5 arrested in prison: Taulant Tusha, Namir Simirxhiu, Bledar Karoli, Lefter Koka and Alqi Blako, while imposing 'house arrest' for the other 7: Etleva Kondi, Valbona Ballgjini, Alba Thoma, Sidita Kopliku, Silena Toma, Pëllumb Abeshi and Jetmir Llapaj.
Meanwhile, the accused Erjon Murataj and the businessmen, owners of the concessionaire "Integrated Energy B.V SPV" Klodian Zoto and Mirel Mërtiri, are being sought.
