Today's session for the former minister, Fatmir Mediu, regarding "Gërdec" has ended. During the session, several witnesses were questioned, such as the ex-soldier, Zabit Cuku, Mirela Dvorani, whose husband also lost his life during the explosion, and Veiz Muça, the former supervisor.

Meanwhile, it is learned that four of the other summoned witnesses could not testify due to the end of the official schedule.  

According to the information, the next session has been decided to be held on November 9 and 10 witnesses will be questioned.

We remind you that the court accepted SPAK's request to call 72 people as witnesses, among them Aldo Bumçin and Shkëlzen Berisha.

The case against former minister Mediu has been reopened after Zamira Durdaj, who lost her son in the Gërdec incident, reported him to SPAK.

Mediu was one of those accused of abuse of office for the 2008 event where Albania was shocked by the explosion of a military weapons depot in Gërdec, near Tirana.

Previously, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime decided to accept the family members of the victims of Gërdec as parties in the process against former minister Fatmir Mediu. 26 people lost their lives and 300 others were injured in the explosion of a military base on March 15, 2008.

SPAK has sent for trial the former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, who is accused of in connection with the process of demilitarization and dismantling of ammunition that took place in the premises of the former "Tank Brigade", in the village of Gërdec, in collaboration with other officials of the Ministry of Defense, as well as persons who have had the quality of military personnel in command, issued several by-laws in violation of the law.
