Peaceful protesters deserve to be heard, not mocked or ignored...
The protests against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama have entered their 50th day today. On this occasion, the European Democratic Party (PDE) has reacted through a post on Instagram, where it appreciates the resistance of the protesters and emphasizes that their demands deserve attention, not disregard.
In its reaction, PDE states that what is taking place on the streets of Tirana goes beyond the demand for the removal of a prime minister, describing it as a call for a deep process of democratic renewal, based on transparency, accountability and the rule of law.

"Last night, the streets of Tirana were filled again. For 50 consecutive days, Albania's Flamingo Revolution has continued its call for the resignation of Edi Rama. Their demand is not simply for a change of government, but for a deep democratic renewal. Peaceful protesters deserve to be heard, not mocked or ignored ," the European Democratic Party's post reads.
We recall that the protest, which began as a direct reaction to the situation in Zvërnec, ended in the demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of the entire old political caste. Since the start of this rally, the protesters have presented a series of demands, chief among them being the non-negotiable resignation of Prime Minister Rama and the creation of a transitional, non-partisan technical government with a 12-month mandate.
They also propose reforming the Electoral Code, amending the law on financing political parties, and limiting the prime minister's term to no more than two terms in office. The list of demands also includes repealing amendments to the law on protected areas, the law on cultural heritage, the Mountain Package, and the legal framework for strategic investments.
