FIFA is expected to record the highest revenue in its history thanks to the 2026 World Cup. According to a report by "The Guardian", the world football organization predicts that total revenue will reach up to $15 billion (about 13 billion euros), a figure significantly higher than the initial estimate of $11 billion (9.6 billion euros).
The revenue growth was driven mainly by the secondary ticket resale market, where FIFA receives a 15% commission from both the buyer and seller. Another important source of profit was the premium ticket packages, which generated significant revenue.
According to The Guardian, this financial success is also expected to have a positive impact on national federations, as FIFA may increase the funds it distributes to them. This, in turn, strengthens the positions of FIFA president Gianni Infantino, especially on the eve of his re-election.
The British newspaper adds that around 200 national federations, practically all FIFA members, have expressed their support for Infantino, further strengthening his position at the head of world football's governing body.
Meanwhile, the success of the 2026 World Cup also strengthens the possibility that the United States will seek to host another World Cup in the future. The 2030 editions, to be held in Morocco, Spain and Portugal, as well as the 2034 edition in Saudi Arabia, have already been decided, while the race to host the 2038 World Cup remains open, with the United States seen as one of the potential candidates.
