The Ambassador of Germany to Albania, Karl Bergner spoke about the economic cooperation between our two countries.
Invited to "A2CNN", the diplomat revealed that in 36 years of cooperation, Germany has invested more than 1.2 billion euros in Albania in several sectors, where energy is the main one.
" We are proud of the cooperation with Albania in the economic sector, in 36 years we have spent 1.2 billion euros. We are long-term partners with Albania. All projects serve the United Nations project for sustainable development. A few days ago we had talks on the energy sectors, vocational education, different energy and rural development. What is visible are the projects we presented for climate change" , said the ambassador.
Regarding the abuses of IPARD 3 funds for agriculture, the German diplomat said that this issue will be clarified and the government has expressed its commitment to this.
" We have had a cooperation with the Albanian authorities, the ministries that we cooperate with for development. Cooperation would not have happened if we did not have trust. We trust that the processes that need to be clarified for IPARD 3 will be clarified. Measures will be taken for the future ," he said.
Ambassador Bergner also spoke about the possibility of increasing the presence of German investments and what hinders them.
" We are happy that many German businesses operate here in Albania. Their commitment could have been more intense and this is the objective of our cooperation. There are reasons why Albania has been given less consideration. This may also have to do with history. The political and legal conditions for foreign investments are also important ," Bergner told A2.
