
The details of a mega-operation of the Italian, German and Belgian authorities, directed by the Chief Anti-Mafia Prosecutor of Catanzaro Nicola Grattteri, coordinated by Eurojust, have been disclosed.
As a result, it is learned that the operation executed this Monday morning has led to the arrest of several Albanian traffickers involved in a mega drug traffic in Europe, as well as their collaboration with the Calabrian mafia clans, "Ndrangheta".
Specifically, it is learned that among the 25 arrest warrants issued by order of the Italian Prosecutor's Office, the majority are Albanians residing in Belgium, and among them it turns out that the name of the Albanian nobleman Fisnik Smajlaj, declared wanted since 2008.
His name was also included in the first phase of this operation executed in 2015.
The coded operation "Gentelman 2" has extended the investigations to Italy and several countries in the European Union.
The investigations were carried out by a joint investigative team composed of Italian, German and Belgian authorities under the coordination of Eurojust.
The 25 persons against whom the detention measures were executed are accused of participating in criminal activity, international trafficking of narcotics. Possession of weapons without a permit, etc.
At the same time, during this morning, the order to seize the property worth 3.8 million euros was executed against the persons placed under the prohibition measure.
During today's morning, the Chief Anti-Mafia Prosecutor of Catanzaro, Nicola Gratteri, will hold a press conference where he will clarify the details of this operation.
Operation "Gentelman2" is a continuation of operation "Gentelman" executed in 2015, which led to the destruction of a drug traffic through South America, the Netherlands, Albania and Italy.
In two years of investigation, the Italian anti-mafia revealed that about 3 tons of drugs, cocaine and heroin of fairly pure quality, worth over 45 million euros, had been trafficked.
From the "Gentleman" operation, 10 Kalashnikov automatic weapons, 2 "Scorpion" machine guns, 9 "Parabellum" pistols were also seized.
