Lawyer Redi Ramaj has spoken about the release of former interior minister Saimir Tahiri.
He said that even though the former minister was convicted for a serious case, still according to the law he is not a person with repeated criminal records nor is he a person of high social risk, so in such cases, the lawyer explained to the court there is no reason not to accept the release and repayment of the legal obligation with "house arrest"
" There are cases when individuals who have met all the legal criteria have not been able to receive bail, but there have also been many cases where the request for bail has been accepted. This practice, when we talk about low risk, should be used by the Court, there is no reason why it should not be granted, when the offense is not dangerous and punishable by a maximum of 8 years.
For serious crimes, this does not apply, or in the case when the persons are repeat offenders, or persons with high risk. Saimir Tahiri, even though he is accused of a serious case, he himself has not been convicted earlier by the court, he has had no criminal precedents, so according to the law he is a low risk person", said lawyer Redi Ramaj in "Euronews Albania".
