Residents in Delvina show the damage from the fires

In the last 24 hours, Albania has been facing a difficult situation due to fires, with the highest level of fire danger recorded on July 25th.

The situation was very problematic in Delvina, where the hotbeds of widespread flames endangered the lives and properties of residents.

For this reason, the Ministry of Defense ordered the evacuation of three villages: Palavli, Vergo and Kopacez.

In the village of Kopacez, the situation still remains difficult despite air and ground intervention.

Firefighters are working to contain the spread of the fire, while smoke and wind make the terrain dangerous.

Residents of the area describe the damage, describing the fire as a catastrophe for them: "Everything has burned down, only the roof is left. Today we will sleep in the open. We have neither water nor electricity... Extraordinary disaster. Colossal material damage, while 2-3 people have also been injured. The damage is incalculable."

In Delvina, the fires continue in the villages of Kalas, Tatzat, Senicë, Vergo, Kopaçës and Palavli, where 100 forces are on the ground. While in Ploce, in the municipality of Selenica, there is spread to Velç, Ramicë, Verbas and Matogjin. Due to the difficult terrain, air intervention has also been requested.

In Delvina, according to residents, about 40 houses were affected by the flames, 8 of which were inhabited. There was also extensive damage to fruit trees and livestock. In all 3 of these villages there was also a power outage.

The head of the Delvina Police Station, Agim Trociu, asphyxiated yesterday and was taken to hospital in Tirana. Five other people were also treated for burns of varying degrees and health problems caused by the asphyxiation.
