The candidate for head of SPAK, Elvin Gokaj, has begun the interview in front of KLP members, where internationals are also present in the hall.
The special prosecutor began his presentation with his profile and career in the justice system, as well as the cases he has investigated.
"My activities will focus on the fight against crime, improving the structure and increasing human capacity, strengthening relations and cooperation with internationals and strengthening public trust. The new direction of SPAK will begin with an analysis, which will help in drafting a development strategy for the next three years," he said, among other things, as he presented his platform.
Further, Gokaj also spoke about the successful cases he has handled and the pressures he has encountered regarding his role in justice.
Some of the questions addressed to him by KLP members:
What would be the best practices?
Gjokaj: Teamwork. Despite the fact that SPAK has 20 prosecutors, in my opinion there are 20 managers.
What trait do you think should identify you during your tenure if elected?
Gjokaj: I think my colleagues have given all their energy, if I am elected myself, it is my turn and I will give all my energy. We have not had any interference from previous leaders on the issues we have had, I think this will be my line if I am elected.
Before taking office, what was a particularly important issue that you considered a successful issue?
Gjokaj: Having had a long career as a prosecutor, I have generally been part of investigative groups in large districts. I have personally had important cases and have requested life imprisonment for criminals in the northern area.
Have you had any instances of pressure, if so, how did you react?
Gjokaj: I think that a prosecutor with a career of 26 years in this position can no longer expect pressure from concrete cases. I don't think pressure can be applied if he doesn't come into contact with the parties.
