After the suspension of the traffic of trucks and buses to pass through the Kapshtica Customs from the Greek side, it seems that the number of vehicles, trucks and buses that are waiting near this customs to cross to Greece is very high.
Travelers and vehicle drivers express concern about this situation and say that they are waiting for over 3 hours to pass the customs, while they still do not have an answer or interest from the Albanian side, when the border will be opened for them. They also have no answer and appeal to the state authorities to engage, since the Greek side allows its vehicles to circulate, except for trucks.
"It's not a difficult situation, it's an unacceptable situation. The Albanian state must make a reaction, well the trucks because it is a matter of safety, but the buses are not allowed even though they are equipped. There are children, old people, pregnant women, they don't have food, where to stay, there are no toilets, where to stay, they have problems. There are no explanations from the Albanian state, someone should come out and give explanations, what should we do, wait, how long will we wait? Cars and buses come from Greece, but they are not allowed here. There are 6 buses with 50 people each waiting, almost 300 people. Someone commit. In Greece, the roads are open", says one of the citizens.
They state that they were not informed in advance about this closure and that the situation found them unprepared. As they also have problems with the papers in the neighboring country if they do not pass, they are looking for a solution to the situation.
"We don't know when it will be opened from the Greek side. We bought the tickets and left, we came here and they told us yes we didn't know. Very difficult situation, you see yourself in the cold. We must go, I'm burning up and I didn't pass the papers today. The agencies should give us a solution, oh the papers, oh the money, and let's go by taxi. We want a solution", says another.
But as they have been standing for 3 hours amid the cold and the snow that has not stopped and is falling with intensity, they say that there are also problems as many passengers are women, children and the elderly, as they wait for three hours.
"We have been waiting for 3 hours. People, toadstools, women, it's cold. We do not know how many hours we will wait, no one gives a solution. We must pass because we have a problem with the documents" , appeals another citizen.
Greek customs announced the closure of the border from yesterday at 17:00 for buses and trucks.
