Former Albanian national football player and former sports director of Lazio and Milan, Igli Tare, has been placed under investigation by the Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK).
Tare appeared on Thursday morning at the SPAK premises, where he was informed of his status as a person under investigation for the suspected criminal offense of money laundering.
According to preliminary reports, the investigation is related to the file known as “Balluku.” So far, authorities have not provided official details on Tara's possible role in the case.
After about five and a half hours of interrogation, Tare left the SPAK premises without giving any statements to the media.
As part of the investigations led by prosecutor Dritan Prençi, SPAK has seized a villa worth around 145 thousand euros in the “White Rocks” tourist resort in Dhërmi. According to investigators' suspicions, the property may have been registered in the name of Igli Tara to hide its true ownership.
Authorities are continuing their investigations to verify the circumstances and possible connections of this property to the persons involved in the case. Until a final decision is made by the courts, all suspicions remain in the investigation phase.
