Former prosecutor Eugen Beci has shown details of how SPAK will investigate 'January 21', a case previously investigated in the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana.
Beci said that SPAK's investigation will be complete and objective, starting from the reasons why the protesters were killed and the perpetrators of the 2 murders, which are still under investigation (since the investigation for two of them is closed).
He said that the object of the investigation will be the protesters and all the actual factors and subjects that were part of the event.
Beci's comments came after the January 21 file was handed over for investigation by the Special Prosecutor's Office.
" Albanian legislation cannot see the other files that have been closed by court decision for retrial. Here we are dealing with the killing of two victims and the wounding of two other people. Now is the moment that SPAK does not have its hands tied to file charges and act for these two murders that have remained untried and are under investigation.
It doesn't matter that you were convicted of two other murders of another person. Now you have two murders that are not in the process of completion, that a complete and objective investigation can be conducted for the entire incident, but with a change of its own, with the consequence of the murder of 2 people and not the murder of 4 people, since for two others have been charged before. No procedural evidence connects the old process with the new.
The new process today that the Supreme Court ordered in SPAK, gives SPAK the right to investigate within the statute of limitations, the entire process of the occurrence of the criminal act in 2011. I am confident that the investigation will be complete and objective, as have come to those actions, not only the guards, but all the protesters and all the actual factors and subjects ", said Beci in the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania.
