As he officially announced his candidacy for the Mayor of Tirana, the leader of the Together Movement party, Arlind Qori, is clear with his vision for running the capital.
Qori expresses her confidence in the support of citizens in these by-elections, while saying that all other candidates who are running as independents are expecting the support of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.
Arlind Qori categorically rejects merging with other opposition parties, describing their agreements as unprincipled and aimed at personal gain and not for the benefit of Tirana.
"We are not interested in unprincipled alliances. Time has proven us right for everything we have decided. Tirana needs a completely new government. To put honesty at the forefront of the work for the vision of the future. Meanwhile, other parties are thinking today about tomorrow where to grab a piece of power. Tirana today and Albania tomorrow to be prosperous.
Those who declare themselves independent are expecting Berisha's support. No matter how many candidates there are in the field like the Joint Movement, there are no two similar in politics. The issues we raise, no one dares to raise.
I believe that by taking this approach, we will present the program for Tirana in a few days, and we will manage to convince many citizens to vote for us. It is a chance for every citizen who is disappointed and angry.
"We will seek votes from the entire electoral body of Tirana. We do not divide citizens by their party origin. We do not want the support of oligarchs and the corrupt. We will give a message that old party affiliations are outdated and are a heavy burden tied to the neck of the citizen. We need to take an important step forward and the Together Movement is the opportunity," Qori told Report TV.
Arlind Qori, among other things, said that if he is elected mayor of Tirana, then early elections will take place in Albania. In case these political changes are delayed, and he will have to work with a lot in the SP Municipal Council, he will put them before two elections.
"I only extend my hand to citizens. I have embraced hypocritical politics since when you insult someone 50 times, you then extend your hand. For me, politics should be serious and principled. We call on all citizens to support my candidacy because I do not have ethics in bargaining.
If I am elected mayor, there will be early elections within 1 month. If I become mayor and the governing changes are delayed and I will have to govern with a majority of the SP municipal council, my approach will be the proposal for the benefit of the citizens and it will be the responsibility of the Municipal Council to vote for them or not. And I tell you that you have only two alternatives, either support these measures for the benefit of the citizens, or take with you the shame and responsibility before the citizens of Tirana.
"The victory of the SP in the last elections was inorganic. Dissatisfaction has grown. I have seen that citizens are gaining hope from the commitments of the Joint Movement. I do not make predictions about the result," said Qori, among other things.
