A day after Gazment Bardhi's statement that he had contact with the EU Delegation in Tirana on some issues, between them and the Ombudsman, the reaction from the international institution has come.
Asked by the media about this statement of Bardhi, the delegation in Tirana explained that there was no contact with members of the opposition regarding the issue of the election of the People's Advocate.
Among other things, in the answer to TV 'News24', the Delegation emphasizes that it cannot comment on internal issues of a party, such as the debates in the DP, the last one about the head of the group.
The question to the delegation : Based on the statements of Mr. Gazment Bardhi, deputy of the Democratic Party, in recent days, regarding contacts with officials of the EU Delegation in Tirana, can I have a reaction from your office?
The EU Delegation's response : The EU Delegation believes in the decisive importance of the opposition for the functioning of democratic institutions. However, the EU Delegation does not comment or interfere in the internal affairs of political parties. In this case, the EU Delegation did not discuss with the members of the opposition about the unfinished issue of the election of the People's Advocate by the parliament. The EU delegation fully supports every effort undertaken to finalize the election of the Ombudsman, another important step for Albania in the EU membership process.
