Journalist Basir Çollaku says that the arrest of the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, is a trick by Prime Minister Edi Rama for the Europeans.
According to him, with these moves SPAK is not going to the 'Achilles' heel' to attack corruption.
Basir Çollaku: There is a real attempt to overlook that big thing, in which the Albanians' money is. The arrest of Beqaj for a project for EU funds has a trick in which I believe both Rama and Beqaj have an interest. It is the Europeans' money and they are thinking that corruption is being fought. We are giving an example, that a minister is arrested because he has put his hands on the money and funds allocated by them. It is about 125 thousand euros.
And here is an advertisement that Rama is conveying by taking Beqe to a car park in the cell, while the Albanians, the Albanian taxpayers, expect something else. They are waiting for 300 million euros, for 400 million euros. We have 4 ministers arrested, in prison, on the run, convicted. So what does it mean? We have more than 23 mayors, who are accused in the investigation. We have 30 percent of local government that is addressed to prisons...
What does it mean that officially with the court decision and with the announcements of the prosecution in the criminal files, we are told that in public offices we have thieves and criminals and thieves and thugs.
This is a serious alarm and I believe Europeans should be concerned about this. And the special prosecution has a kind of steppe, it has a kind of impasse to go to the Achilles Heel. Because in these weeks we have three serious events, this one in Beqaj is far from what we expected, what the public opinion expects...", said the journalist.
