The Peqin prison police conducted a surprise search of the prison premises this Monday. The searches were focused on building B, sector no. 2, room 11 on the first floor.
According to official data, during a search of the cell of a convict with the initials I.SH., a working mobile phone was found, turned on and charging. A USB was also seized in the same premises.
After ascertaining the case, the prison authorities notified the structures of the ICS to continue the procedures and take further actions.
The General Directorate of Prisons stated that checks to identify prohibited items in penitentiary institutions will continue.
"Based on operational data, the police structures of the institution itself carried out a flash check in building B, sector no. 2, room 11, first floor. During the check, a mobile phone in working condition, turned on and charging, as well as a USB were found and seized from the convict with the initials I.SH. The case was immediately reported to the structures of the Albanian Prison Service for further procedural actions. The General Directorate of Prisons continues the uncompromising fight against the introduction and possession of prohibited items in institutions serving sentences." - announces the Directorate of Prisons.
