As the new head of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) is expected to be elected tomorrow, internationals will arrive at the High Prosecutorial Council to closely monitor this process. The EU Embassy in Tirana emphasized that Ambassador Gonzato will be present along with representatives of the embassies of EU member states.
Meanwhile, Gonzato himself sent a clear message during the joint meeting between the High Judicial Council and the High Prosecutorial Council. He demanded that the process be clean and free from influence, and emphasized that the person elected must be someone with high integrity and a clean image.

"Gonzato expressed confidence that the members of the KLP will show the highest level of accountability and ensure that the Special Prosecution Office is led by a person of unquestionable integrity, independent, professional and committed to the best EU standards ," the EU statement said.
The selection of the new head can be called the 'Achilles' heel' in terms of the survival of SPAK itself. If a suspicious figure, or one influenced by politics, is chosen at the head of this institution, this would bring about the end of SPAK. For this reason, after the large investment that the EU countries and the US have made in the Special Structure, they have placed the KLP, which is in charge of selecting Altin Dumani's replacement, under monitoring, while they have set 'conditions' regarding the identity of the new head of SPAK.
On the other hand, the British Embassy also reacted to the election of the new head of SPAK, calling it an important step towards strengthening the rule of law. Britain also called for transparency in the process.
" The election of the Head of SPAK is an important step in Albania's progress in strengthening the rule of law and the fight against corruption. It is important that the High Prosecutorial Council conducts this process in a free, fair and transparent manner. The United Kingdom looks forward to working with whoever is elected to continue and strengthen our excellent relationship ," the British Embassy said in a statement.
It is worth noting that despite the fact that there is no American Ambassador in Tirana, senior representatives of the US Embassy will also be present during the election of the new head of SPAK.
We remind you that the current leader, Altin Dumani, ends his three-year mandate on December 16. Meanwhile, Klodian Braho, Doloreza Musabelliu, Adnan Xholi and Elvin Gokaj are in the race. One of them will be elected tomorrow as the new head of SPAK.
Vetem Adnan Xholi nuk eshte i Rames! Only Adnan Xholi is not of Rama.
