Analyst Mentor Kikia spoke about the political current affairs of the week, as the opposition held a protest on Monday, blocking traffic in the capital.
Kikia supports the idea of a caretaker government for the new parliamentary elections, but sees it as impossible to create something like that, since the opposition cannot be imposed and the majority does not have the will to do it.
"I would support the idea of a caretaker government until we have a consolidated government and an increase in trust in the structures. I believe that seeing the readiness of the majority, we will not have this caretaker government. Until now, giving or allowing has not been proposed as an alternative, since the technical government is a very important event, since every election process will be practiced, just like in North Macedonia. Based also on these protests as pressure on the majority, so far I consider the pressure from the protests to force the majority to accept a compromise as very modest, and seeing that there is no sign, I find it impossible to create a technical government", said Kikia for "Report TV".
Furthermore, he says that the new parties are a reality different from the small traditional parties, allies of the DP or the SP.
"New parties are a new reality. Unlike other times, where the parties were allies of the socialist camp or DP. When the SP came to power in 2013, it assimilated the small parties, as they wanted a share of power. Rama followed a tactic by melting them. There are no allies in the left camp. Some allies were preserved in the right camp. There are a few actors left. Several new parties were created, although without a specific axis, they are making room. We have some changes. Even though the SP won, it no longer enjoys the support of the first or second term. After being taken over by Berisha, the DP won the militants but lost the support of the gray electorate as they do not support Sali Berisha. This does not create ground for PD", said the analyst.
