A large-scale Traffic Police operation has been launched in Tirana to remove vehicles parked in violation of traffic rules, especially those that block sidewalks, intersections, and the movement of pedestrians or emergency vehicles.
The capital's Traffic Police have recently been equipped with two new vehicles, a tow truck and a lifting platform, which will be used to remove illegally parked or "double" cars. According to authorities, these vehicles are expected to intensify the action in the coming days, significantly increasing the number of vehicles that will be removed from the road.
According to the Police, the new vehicles will help facilitate the work of road services and guarantee the free and safe movement of vehicles, as well as improve road traffic in the capital, where illegal parking remains one of the main problems.
The Traffic Police calls on drivers to respect traffic rules, not to park on sidewalks, at intersections or in front of the entrances and exits of institutions and residences, and not to obstruct the movement of pedestrians, people with disabilities and emergency vehicles.
Authorities warn that illegally parked vehicles will be towed away and taken to traffic jams. Their drivers will be punished with administrative measures for illegally parking, towing, and remaining in traffic jams.
The Traffic Police invites citizens to cooperate for the most orderly and safe traffic, respecting signage, white lines and parking rules, while the action on the ground is expected to continue with increased intensity.
