Around 40 families from the village of Guras, in the municipality of Pogradec, have protested against the decision of the Municipality of Pogradec to lease agricultural land to a private investor for the development of agrotourism.
The residents express their outrage, emphasizing that they have benefited from the areas in question under Law 7501 and have used them continuously, while the lease was carried out without their knowledge and consent.
According to them, efforts to obtain ownership certificates have failed, even though land has been the main source of income for their families.
They warn that the loss of these agricultural areas will directly affect the household economy and will damage the agricultural activity they have developed over the years.
On the other hand, the administrator of the entity that has leased the land has stated to the media that he has been using this area for two years based on a regular lease contract with the Municipality of Pogradec. He has explained that an investment in agrotourism and fruit growing is planned in the area, expressing his readiness for any verification of the ownership status.
Meanwhile, sources from the Pogradec Municipality indicate that a working group will be established to verify the residents' claims and review the legal documentation regarding land ownership.
