The large-scale fire that has engulfed Mount Shpirag has reached close to residential areas, seriously endangering homes in the villages of Paftal and Galinë. The flames are only a few meters away from homes, while the situation is extremely critical due to the wind and difficult terrain that hinders firefighting operations.
Footage released by Euronews Albania shows dramatic scenes, with emergency forces making urgent calls for residents to evacuate. Amidst the tension and fear, an elderly woman in the village of Paftal has refused to leave her home, despite the immediate danger and repeated requests from teams on the ground.

Emergency worker: You need to evacuate, take the children and go out into the street.
Journalist: You won't leave even after the order is given?
Old woman: I'll leave, I'll go inside!
Emergency worker: No inside, you'll leave the house!
Old woman: Where are you going?
Civil emergency worker: Go downstairs, mother, get away from the fire!
Old woman: Shame on God, the ground is burning there on the side of the road.
Emergency services have continued to try to convince him and other residents to leave the area as quickly as possible, as the fire progresses at an alarming rate. Strong winds and rugged terrain continue to hamper efforts to extinguish the flames.
