The Ministry of Interior and the state-owned company IdentiTek Sh.A announced this Tuesday a series of innovations aimed at facilitating the procedures for providing Albanian citizens, both at home and abroad, with biometric identification documents.
Among the most important changes is the elimination of the need to physically purchase coupons at Post Office counters for passports and identity cards. Citizens can now make payments online, avoiding having to physically go to the post office.
IdentiTek announces that it also offers an expedited ID card production service, from 1 to 3 days.
The Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha, and the administrator of IdentiTek, Freskida Halilaj, visited one of the application offices to closely monitor the operation of the new platform.
"The Ministry of Interior and IdentiTek today launch two very important processes, which will help citizens to facilitate all procedures regarding the online application for receiving a coupon and the continuation of procedures for the production of identity cards," declared Minister Hoxha.
According to him, the application for the coupon and card will be able to be done entirely online through the IdentiTek platform.
Another important aspect is the improvement of document security. Administrator Halilaj announced that Albania has become the 99th member country of the Public Key Directorate (PKD) within the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), ensuring that Albanian passports are now more secure and internationally recognized.
