"Better to die for something than to live without doing anything",

For the first time in Albania, the Albanian Special Forces gathered the most elite units of the eight Special Forces from the Western Balkans region, at the national training ground of Biza in the "Strong Balkan 23" exercise.

Within the initiatives of the Chiefs of Staff, the Albanian Armed Forces planned and organized the largest training exercise with 220 special forces.

For the first time in their 25-year history, Albanian special forces operators carried out infiltration from the air with parachutes at 6000 meters altitude, thus becoming fully operational and interoperable. The purpose of the training through complex scenarios was to increase regional cooperation, but also the professional level, tactical, operational and strategic training, to face the complex challenges presented by the security environment today.

NATO has published footage of the exercise that took place from October 31 to November 10, 2023. The video also mentions the ROS motto: Better to die for something than to live doing nothing!

"This creates a sense of security in the Balkan region, where special forces train together, bringing peace and security", says the commander of the Special Forces Regiment, Lt. Col. Ajet Jata.

As part of the exercise, special operators from participating and observer countries also had the opportunity to display their national pride by parachuting and waving their national flags as they descended.
