Today, an article was published in the Greek media, attacking judge Irena Gjoka, who is one of the judges in the Beleri case, with the claim that she was arrested and deported from Greece and did not declare this fact during the vetting. The Greek media article comes a day before the trial against Beler.
Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show "The Unexposed", said that judges cannot be attacked and intimidated and that it is still unclear whether the claims of the Greek press are true.
" I have maintained the position that people of justice should not be intimidated. I have maintained this position and will maintain it. But the moment a newspaper casts doubt, the institutions will have to verify it. If the data remains, the process is compromised. If they do not remain and there is an attack on the judge and this is a scandal in itself.
I have seen the statement of Mrs. Gjoka, she is one of the nine judges of the Special Court. Doubts are raised about the way the vetting was done. Ms. Gjoka has admitted that she kept all three surnames. The Greek newspaper raises claims that Ms. Gjoka traveled to Greece years ago using forged documents and tried to present herself as a minority.
They claim that they have a court document, that when the Greek side received an order to deport him, he went to court and there were procedures.
If it turns out to be true, it can affect all other processes. If Ms. Gjoka has not declared this record in the vetting process, it could be grounds for an investigation by the ILD and a request for her dismissal ," said Lala.
