In a historic turnout, thousands of Albanians surrounded the government building this evening. During the march, the message was conveyed by loudspeakers and participants that the Prime Minister's Office was now "surrounded" by citizens and that their demand remained unchanged: the removal of the Prime Minister from office.
"The Prime Minister's Office is surrounded. At this moment we say to the Prime Minister: you are surrounded. Resign," was one of the calls articulated during the march.
As they marched around the government building, citizens accompanied the protest with numerous chants such as "Edi Rama, you are surrounded, resign", "Investigate Rama", "Rama in prison" and "Berisha in prison".
This Saturday's protest gathered thousands of citizens from Albania and the diaspora, who throughout the evening demanded the resignation of the prime minister, political changes, and the fight against corruption.
The march around the government building constitutes one of the culminating moments of the protest, which, according to the organizers, will continue in the coming hours.
