"Rama resigns", the strong messages from the mega-protest: The exile
Scenes from the protest

One of the largest protests ever held in Tirana has gathered thousands of Albanians from the country and the diaspora. Strong accusations have been made from the podium against Edi Rama, while protesters demand his removal from power.

A sea of people has filled Tirana's boulevard in the 21st anti-government protest, considered by participants as one of the largest civic mobilizations in recent years.

Among the thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, one of the strongest voices was that of an Albanian from London, who spoke about immigration and the wounds that, according to him, decades of leaving the country have left.

" Edi Rama, I will never forgive you for my mother's tears when she accompanied us to Britain. They did not get to know either their grandchildren or their great-grandchildren because you wanted to devour Albania. You made a grave mistake because the diaspora is here. Rama resigns. Your time has come to an end, because the Albanian people are not sheep. And so that a very bitter end does not come, resign ," he said amid applause from the protesters.

There were also strong messages from other protesters, who accused the prime minister of seizing power and demanded his removal.

" You said I won't leave the wheel and the frying pan. You have to leave everything, because you don't own this country. Edi Rama in prison. You have all Albanians united and they want your resignation ," declared another protester from the podium.

Today's protest marked the largest turnout since the movement began 21 days ago. In addition to citizens from all over Albania, hundreds of immigrants from Britain, Germany, Italy, Greece and other European countries have also arrived in Tirana.

Amidst red and black flags and chants of "Rama go away", "Rama in prison", "Berisha in prison" and "New Albania", the protesters have reiterated their demand for the removal of the prime minister and the end of the political class that has dominated the country for the last three decades.

For many of the participants, today's protest is not just a demonstration against the government, but a show of force and a dissatisfaction that has been gathering Albanians from all regions and the diaspora in the square for three weeks.
