The miners protested in front of the Parliament of Albania shortly before the start of the criminal hearing, where they demanded better economic conditions and a vote on the miner's status.
They have stated that the pensions they receive are very low and are not even enough to buy medicine.
"Miners want status, they want economic conditions, you have left them miserable and we are suffering today. Each of us has three pairs of medicines. The ridiculous pension you gave us is not even enough for medicine," said one of them.
Meanwhile, another of the participants in the protest has called on the Assembly to vote for the special status, while saying "if you don't, the blood of the miners will be on you".
"This is the Albanian reality, let the whole world know. We miners live on a ridiculous pension, from 180-280 thousand old lek. I call on the ministers to approve the demands and status of the miner, to respect the Constitution and the people's vote. If you don't, may the fallen blood of the miners kill you. The miners have worked honestly, while you are trying to steal from us", said another of the miners.
