The Special Structure for the Investigation of Electoral Crimes in the city of Kukës has announced the search for two people for vote buying.
The Kukes Police have conducted searches in the homes of Kalosh and Gëzim Peposhit, who are accused of the criminal offense of "Active Corruption in Elections". It is learned that the two individuals wanted have distributed monetary values to buy votes for a political entity.
"The special structures for the investigation of electoral crimes at the Kukes Local Police Directorate, in close cooperation with the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), have carried out searches in the homes of citizens GP and KP as part of the investigations into the criminal offense of "Active corruption in elections", committed in collaboration, as provided for by articles 328 and 25 of the Penal Code.
"The Kukes Police have declared citizens GP and KP wanted, and intensive work continues to capture them. The investigative structures of the Kukes Police Department under the direction of SPAK are working intensively to identify other citizens who are suspected of having been given monetary values to direct their vote towards a political entity ," the police statement said.
Meanwhile, there have also been developments in Dibër, where DP militants have blocked a car that was suspected of distributing money for vote buying.
It is learned that in the village of Tomin in Dibra, a group of DP sympathizers stopped a car that was thought to be heading towards remote areas.
The DP says it suspects that people close to the SP were distributing money and fuel stamps. The prosecution and police have gone to the scene and conducted vehicle checks.
Even from preliminary information it is learned that there was a physical confrontation between the two groups. This event has caused a blockage of the Peshkopi-Kukës road axis and over 500 vehicles are in traffic. The DP candidate in the Dibra district, Xhemal Gjunkshi, claims that there were gunshots by a police officer. Esat Gjura has been identified and declared wanted, as the policeman who fired the gun. Another person is also wanted. Meanwhile, it is learned that Gjura is the father of an SP candidate in that area.
