May 11 elections, CEC indicates 7 polling centers where electronic voter

The Central Election Commission is continuing to distribute the material base that will be used in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025. These will be the second parliamentary elections where electronic voter identification will be applied in the majority of polling centers.

However, the CEC has announced that in seven voting centers it will not be possible to use this technology, due to the inability to contract the relevant operators who would guarantee the functioning of the equipment.

These are the centers where electronic identification technology will be missing:

1 voting center in the Pult Administrative Unit, Shkodra Municipality

4 voting centers in the municipality of Dropull

1 voting center in the municipality of Libohova

1 voting center in the municipality of Konispol, Administrative Unit of Xarë

On May 11, Albanian citizens will elect 140 new members of the Albanian Parliament, in the eleventh parliamentary elections since 1991. According to official data from the CEC, over 3,713,761 Albanian citizens are eligible to vote in these elections.

For the first time, citizens living abroad, who have previously registered on the Electronic Platform for Overseas Voter Registration, also have the right to vote.

11 electoral entities are participating in these elections: 8 political parties and 3 coalitions. Among the most important are the Socialist Party of Albania, which is seeking a fourth consecutive mandate, the Democratic Party, the "Alliance for a Greater Albania" coalition, as well as other entities such as the Albania Becomes Initiative, the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, the Together Movement, and the Opportunity Party.

The process will be monitored by the OSCE/ODIHR mission, while the head of this mission, Lamberto Zannier, is expected to visit some of the polling stations on election day to closely observe developments.
