The former Minister of the Interior, Sandër Lleshaj, analyzing the dramatic developments in Kosovo, declared that in the most extreme scenario, that of a Serb attack on Kosovo, Albania would automatically be at war, as the people would engage in it, regardless decisions of the Albanian leadership.
In an interview for the show "The Unexposed", Lleshaj said that Serbia has an aggressive approach towards Kosovo and has a Constitutional obligation to annex the north, so their actions should not come as a surprise, but he considered the actions of the to the international community that did not stop Serbia in time in this aggressive campaign.
" If, hypothetically, Serbia will be involved in military engagement, we are automatically involved, regardless of our political level. Albania will be involved from below even if it is not involved from above. Albania is automatically at war if Kosovo is attacked. Therefore, we must Albania should not consider the need to be engaged as a theoretical option. Serbia has this option in the Constitution. Vučić said brutally, kill us all, we are here. We cannot go to the regime of absolute security, because the security of Albania and Kosovo are two vessels that communicate on the same line ," said the former minister, among other things.

Ylli Rakipi : Mr. Lleshaj, in recent days there has been a concentration of Serbian military forces on the border with Kosovo. What is the purpose of deploying the army at the border? As a former general, can you explain to us what it means when the army is deployed at the border?
Sandër Lleshaj : In a way, the international community has given in to see the signs. In 2006, Serbia adopted an aggressive Constitution, where it considers Kosovo to be part of it. He demanded a review of the Kumanovo agreement, which prohibited the approach of the Serbian army to the border. He developed a feverish armaments program. The USA and other EU countries were alarmed, it is enough for us to be at least as alarmed as they are, although we should be even more alarmed. It is not only the focus on the border, but a series of issues, which have given in to see, whether by accident or not, those who should have seen them at the right time.
Ylli Rakipi: Are we dealing with a demonstration of force, or was there a serious intention by the Serbs to enter Kosovo to conquer or annex the north?
Sandër Llešaj: The annexation of the north is a constitutional obligation of Serbia. It is written in the constitution in the preamble, that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia. We should never be surprised with Serbia. Our lack of wonder is the problem. We want to find a solution to an unsolvable equation. All these are logical steps, the Serbian armed forces are obliged to follow this. The last entry was not a test, but much more than a pulse measurement of Kosovo's institutions. We are dealing with a considerable arsenal. There, the plan was to organize a series of coordinated attacks, which would enable operational land links of forces infiltrated in Kosovo with other forces in Serbia.
Ylli Rakipi : You stated that Albania should also prepare. What do you mean by that?
Sandër Lleshaj : Serbia has been consistent in following its course with Kosovo. He put it in the Constitution and undertook the big armament program, which has no other logical explanation, except for the preparation to implement the obligation he has put himself in the Constitution.
In this sense, the hope for changes in Serbia's politics can only come when Serbia faces a force. It must be made clear that any incursion into Kosovo is impossible. This is done either with security guarantees from NATO, but Kosovo itself must develop capacities to defend itself, to make it clear to a potential aggressor that efforts against it are worthless.

Sandër Lleshaj: Jemi përballë një skenari ekstrem, për arsye se Kosova ndodhet nën garancitë e KFOR, por nuk janë garanci të përjetshme ndërkohë Serbia është e përhershme dhe ambicia ndaj Kosovës është e përhershme. Kosova duhet të zhvillojë kapacitete serioze të vetat. Nëse, hipotetikisht, Serbia do të përfshihet në angazhim ushtarak, ne jemi të përfshirë automatikisht, pavarësisht nivelit tonë politik. Nuk mund të kalojmë në regjimin e sigurisë absolute, sepse siguria e Shqipërisë dhe Kosovës janë dy enë që komunikojnë në të njëjtën linjë.
