On the 42nd day of the civic protest against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama, various citizens have shared their concerns and dissatisfaction with the political situation in the country.
Before the march from Skanderbeg Square to the Prime Minister's Office began, some protesters expressed their disappointment with the current government and demanded political change.
One of them said that the country has lost its direction and that institutions are not functioning properly.
"Prime Minister Edi Rama asked for the steering wheel, took it, but lost control and threw us all into the abyss. Everything that is supposed to function according to the rules has been bypassed. Every institution is corrupt. Everything has turned into a facade and no longer functions," he said.
The citizen also criticized Parliament and the way protesters are being treated.
"The foundations are rotten. They do not prioritize saving people's lives. They think they are bringing innovation to Albania, but internationals do not only see concerts and facades. We must fight this corruption. You tell us the truth. With the youth, we must definitely overthrow this government," the citizen said.
Meanwhile, another protester, who said she works in public administration, said she came out to protest despite the risk this situation poses to her job. She stated that she has voted for Prime Minister Rama three times, but today she feels disappointed.
"I risk a lot being here, but the biggest risk is the depopulation and fragmentation of the homeland. I consider my work a small risk compared to what is happening to the country," said the protester.
She added that the country needs change and that she feels compelled to react.
"I have voted for the Rama government three times and I am ready to publicly climb the steps of protest and even cut off my hand, because I have hoped," the citizen said.
According to her, all citizens must defend their country and their interests. "I am in defense of every millimeter of this homeland. The homeland loves you even when you are not the most beautiful bird," declared the protester.
The 42nd protest continued with the march of citizens towards the Prime Minister's Office, while the organizers have declared that the rallies will continue until their political demands are met.
