5 developments expected this week from the justice system...
The coming week looks set to be quite intense for justice. The issue of most interest is undoubtedly the decision that the Constitutional Court will give regarding Prime Minister Edi Rama's lawsuit regarding the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku. The Constitutional Court suspended her from office, but for Rama this conflicts with the Constitution, because a minister has immunity just like a deputy.
The Constitutional Court has postponed the decision on this case 3 times and a meeting of judges will be held on Friday of next week, where two elements will be decided: whether the government's lawsuit will be accepted and whether the GJKKO decision will be suspended until a final decision is made.
Another important trial is also scheduled for the 12th. A preliminary hearing will be held at the GJKKO against Mayor Erion Veliaj, as there is still no decision on whether or not the case will go to trial.
But before Friday comes, there will be two very intense meetings at the High Prosecutorial Council. The first meeting is on Tuesday, where the new head of the National Bureau of Investigation will be elected. SPAK has proposed Joni Keta as Aida Hajnaj's successor and he will likely receive a vote of confidence in the KLP.
The most interesting meeting will be on Thursday, December 12, as the head of SPAK will be elected. In the race are Klodian Braho, Elvin Gokaj, Doloreza Musabelliu and Adnan Xholi. On Thursday, they will appear before the KLP to present their platforms and at the end, a vote is expected, where Altin Dumani's successor will be elected.
Meanwhile, on the 10th, a hearing will be held for the "Partizani" file, with defendants Sali Berisha, his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi and three others. The hearing scheduled for November 25th was postponed to December 10th. The reason was the absence of attorney Sokol Hazizaj and Vasilika Hysi, who are defending Fatmir Bektashi and the two companies.
The Partizani affair case went to trial on May 19. Berisha will be tried on charges of passive corruption of high-ranking officials, as he is accused of having, in his capacity as prime minister, taken concrete actions in approving laws and by-laws, where his son-in-law was also a beneficiary.
So, it seems that the focus of next week will be on justice. /Pamphlet
